Almost a year ago, I started looking into how to make YouTube videos. I thought it might be a great idea to try recording myself speaking some of my poems. Since I’m not that skilled at video editing as of yet, I attempted to get through a whole poem in one take. It’s not so easy! I’d get tongue-tied, stutter a bit, forget an important line in the poem… After several takes, I finally got it. However, since that first recorded poem, I have been kind of lax in my recording and posting. Last week, a dear friend of mine who moved to Nashville a few years ago started making video blogs or “vlogs” of her own. The first of her videos was about working on letting go of perfectionism. Reading/reciting poems to a camera isn’t quite the same as doing so in front of a live audience, but just the same, my friend inspired me. After watching her video, I recorded several more videos, and I now have a total of six posted to my YouTube channel BardInBlue. Soon, I’m going to make links to the videos from this website. That way, you’ll be able to get a taste or preview of some of my work.
