authorMetaphorical, metaphysical, and somewhat mad-hatted…
Matthew Presley has been active in the Louisville, Kentucky creative scene since 2003. That was when at his church, he met another poetic friend who introduced him to the Louisville Poets’ Guild, and later his friend created another creative writing group called The Muse. In 2006, he met the Troubadours of Divine Bliss at his church, and ended up writing a poem for them. Before he knew it, he was invited to an open mic they hosted called “Church on the Rocks”. Week after week, he attended several different open mics, and made friends among other poets, musicians, and other creative people. He was invited to share some of his poems at the Rudyard Kipling that some of his friends put together on November 11, 2011. The next year, he put together a show at the same place with more friends for December 12, 2012 called “Rock the Vibration”. He self-published his first book of poetry, “Abundantly Clear” in December of 2013. On March 22, 2014, he performed again with a group of poets at Open Art Gallery as they produced a show called “Night of the Hundredth Monkey: The Horse and the Bull”. In 2015, he published two more books: “Seasoned with Sentiment & Silliness”, featuring not only poems, but also notes about the friends, places and experiences which inspired the poems; and “Book of Small Wonders”, a book of haiku. Matthew can often be found at music and poetry events, and does what he can to keep himself curious and creative.
